What I've been doing during lockdown

A few months ago, we started off 2020 with goals and plans, but now a few months later we are stuck at home. This left people feeling discouraged, losing their jobs, not getting paid and stressed about the future.

But it’s our responsibility to turn the negative into a positive. We have to keep ourselves busy, but we also have to keep our minds busy. I have spoken to a lot of people who can’t work from home and here I am loving every second off it for the last 2 years.

There are people currently working from home, but I also know that there are people that simply can’t work from home. Are you wondering how to keep yourself busy? I have a few tips on what you can do to keep yourself busy during this time.

I love reading. I’m currently busy with a series of 8 books. Reading can help you to relax, take your mind off of things and can take you on an amazing adventure. I also love magazines.

Your Tupper cupboard ain’t gonna fix itself …. (laughing emoji, laughing emoji)

Now is the perfect time to organize that cupboard that’s been at the back off your mind for quite a while now. It’s almost winter in SA, which means that this is the perfect time to get your wardrobe on #fleek.

Put on a workout video, run a few laps around the house or on the treadmill or simply do some skipping. It’s important to keep your body, mind and health in tip-top shape during this time. When the lockdown is over you will feel as confident and healthy as ever.

“That wall needs a new coat of paint” …. That was your words 5 months ago. Now is the perfect time to do it because you’ve got all the time in the world, but if you don’t have paint please don’t drive around to search for paint. Most shops are closed and it’s not safe for your health. Rather do something else like rearranging your furniture.

Who said that a spa day has to take place at a luxurious spa. Why not bring the spa to the heart of your home? Foot spa and facials for mom and yourself, massages… well the list can just go on and on. Treat yo’self. You deserve it.

Why not bring the cinema to your home? There is nothing better than a great movie or series and Netflix has plenty that you will enjoy. There is something for everyone and even a kid’s section. I have a few favorites like Chesapeake Shores, Heartland, Designated Survivor, Falling Inn Love, Set it Up and soooo much more.

I absolutely love sudoku. There is not a better feeling in the world than finishing a hard sudoku and knowing that you did it all by yourself. When you visit the shop to pick up your essentials see if they have a sudoku book at the magazine section. It will definitely take your mind off things or simply download a sudoku app.

Pinned that recipe 6 months ago on Pinterest, printed another recipe 3 weeks ago and saved one on you notes a couple of days ago. Well now I can bake them all because I have the time. Feel proud because you’ve tried out something new, you made something yummy for the fam and now you are the best cook in the house ;)

Why haven’t I downloaded this app ages ago. Laughing at funny videos, laughing at myself for trying out the funny videos and just having a ball. This app will keep you busy for quite some time and will give you endless entertainment.

Want to fix something around the house or have you been asking your hubby to do something around the house when you got married and now it’s 10 years later? Good luck to all the hubbies out there :D The least that us ladies could do is to be off assistance and to cook a yummy meal for supper.

Cluedo, Bingo, Uno and many more options to keep yourself busy and to have the best fun night with your fam.

Are you a creative brain like me? Find your hidden sketch book, mosaic something for the house or get out that blank canvas. Being creative is one off the best ways to relax.

Have you been struggling to apply eyeliner in the morning? Have you been struggling with an app on your phone/PC? Now is the best time ever to take your skills to the next level or to figure something out if you have been struggling with it.

Please be safe and Please look after yourself. “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.”

Until next time
